Introduction

Yisi AI Education (HK) Technology Limited (“Yisi”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) provides digital learning tools that help students organise study materials, review mistakes, understand academic performance, and track learning progress. This Privacy Policy applies to the Yisi application, related services, and the Yisi website.

This policy explains what personal data we may collect, why we use it, how we protect it, when we share it, and the choices available to you. We handle personal data in accordance with applicable laws, including the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486) of Hong Kong (the “PDPO”).

Please also read our Terms of Service, Personal Information Collection List, and Third-Party Information Sharing List.

1. Information we collect

We aim to collect only information that is adequate, relevant, and not excessive for the purpose for which it is used.

1.1 Account and contact information

If you create an account, contact support, or submit a privacy request, we may collect the contact details and account identifiers that you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, or other account details.

1.2 Student and learning information

When you use Yisi’s learning features, we may process information such as your selected subjects, grade or examination level, study goals, questions, answers, notes, tags, wrong-question records, study plans, practice history, progress data, and learning analysis results.

1.3 Images, documents, and other user content

Yisi may allow you to photograph or upload questions, completed papers, screenshots, documents, or other content. We process this content only to provide the feature you request, such as question recognition, answer analysis, question-bank matching, paper generation, or adding a record to your wrong-question book.

Please do not upload another person’s personal data unless you have the right and permission to do so.

1.4 Device and diagnostic information

We may receive basic technical information needed to operate and secure the service, such as app version, operating system, device model, IP address, timestamps, crash reports, and service logs. We use this information to troubleshoot failures, prevent abuse, and improve reliability.

1.5 Information you send us

This includes feedback, support requests, messages, screenshots, and other files that you voluntarily submit to us.

2. How we use personal data

We may use personal data to:

  • provide, personalise, maintain, and improve Yisi and its learning features;
  • recognise questions and generate or display learning explanations when you request those features;
  • organise wrong questions, practice records, and study progress;
  • generate practice papers and learning reports;
  • respond to account, technical, and customer-support requests;
  • detect fraud, abuse, security incidents, and attempts to interfere with the service;
  • understand service performance and fix technical problems;
  • comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements; and
  • communicate with you about service, security, policy, or account matters.

We do not use your learning records or uploaded study content for unrelated advertising purposes. If we propose a new purpose that is not reasonably related to the original purpose, we will provide additional notice and obtain consent where required.

3. Permissions and optional information

Some features may request access to a camera, photo library, microphone, or files. We request permission only when the related feature needs it. You can refuse or later withdraw a device permission through your device settings, but the related feature may not work.

You may also refuse optional account or profile information. This will not affect features that do not depend on that information, although some personalised or account-based features may be unavailable.

4. Sharing, transfer, and disclosure

We do not sell personal data. We may share limited personal data in the following circumstances:

4.1 Service providers

We may appoint service providers for hosting, storage, security, customer support, diagnostics, AI or image-processing infrastructure, and other services needed to operate Yisi. These providers may process personal data only for our documented purposes and subject to confidentiality and security obligations.

The providers currently disclosed by Yisi are listed in the Third-Party Information Sharing List. We will update that list before introducing a new provider that changes the types or purposes of personal data processing.

We may disclose information where required by law, legal process, court order, or a competent authority, or where reasonably necessary to protect users, the public, or our legal rights. If Yisi is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganisation, or sale of assets, personal data may be transferred as part of that transaction subject to appropriate safeguards and notice where required.

5. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organisational safeguards designed to protect personal data against unauthorised access, use, alteration, disclosure, loss, or destruction. Depending on the circumstances, safeguards may include access controls, encryption in transit, secure storage, logging, backup controls, staff confidentiality obligations, and security incident procedures.

No online service can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You should use a strong password where one is required and keep your account information confidential.

6. Retention and deletion

We retain personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, fulfil the purposes described in this policy, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, maintain security records, and comply with legal obligations.

When personal data is no longer required, we will delete it or anonymise it where reasonably practicable, subject to lawful retention needs and technical backup cycles. You may ask us about deletion or account closure using the contact details below.

7. International transfers

Yisi is incorporated in Hong Kong and may use service providers located in other jurisdictions. If personal data is transferred outside Hong Kong, we will take appropriate steps required by applicable law to protect it and to ensure that the transfer is made only for the purposes described in this policy.

8. Your rights and choices

Subject to applicable law and reasonable verification, you may ask us to:

  • confirm whether we hold personal data about you and provide access to it;
  • correct personal data that is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • delete personal data where it is no longer needed or where a lawful deletion request applies;
  • stop a particular use of personal data where the law gives you that right;
  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; or
  • close your account, subject to information that we must retain by law or for legitimate security and record-keeping purposes.

To make a request, contact us by telephone at +86 186 1298 8016. We may ask for information needed to verify your identity. We will respond within a reasonable time and explain any lawful reason why a request cannot be fully completed.

9. Children’s privacy

Yisi is designed for students and may be used by minors. A parent or guardian should review this policy and help a child use Yisi responsibly. Where applicable law requires parental or guardian consent, we will not knowingly collect a child’s personal data without that consent.

If you believe that a child has provided personal data to us improperly, please contact us. We will review the matter and take appropriate action, which may include deleting the information where required.

Please see our Children’s Privacy Policy for more information.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when our services, data practices, or legal obligations change. We will publish the updated version on this page and change the effective or updated date. If a change materially affects your rights, we will provide additional notice where required by law.
